Gastro cruise through the central Dalmatian islands

Marina – Drvenik – Vis – Hvar – Brač – Šolta – Marina

DAY 1

Marina – Drvenik

  • Our journey begins in the beautiful small central Dalmatian town of Marina near Trogir.
  • If you are arriving on the day of departure, we will be happy to arrange transportation for you from Trogir airport to Marina.
  • As a sign of welcome, we will welcome you with delicious traditional Dalmatian delicacies and organize a wine tasting so that you can choose the wine you will drink on the upcoming seven-day excursion to the surrounding Dalmatian islands.
  • At sunset, we will sail towards a real small oasis suitable for anchoring in one of the bays of the island of Drvenik.
  • During the cruise, you will be presented with a detailed program of your seven-day cruise to the central Dalmatian islands.

Dinner will be prepared and served on board after anchoring.

Check-in: 16:00.

Meals: Welcome appetizers and dinner on board.

 

DAY 2

Drvenik – Komiža

  • We start the morning with breakfast and a refreshing swim.

  • After breakfast, we continue our trip with a sail to one of the most beautiful Dalmatian towns – Komiža on the island of Vis. Komiža is the oldest fishing town in Dalmatia known for its Falkuša – a traditional fishing boat that fed many families in that small town.

  • While cruising towards Komiža, you will have the opportunity to try your hand at traditional fishing on a “panula”.

  • Before entering Komiža, we will stop for a swim where traditional appetizers for lunch will be served.

  • After that, there will be a docking in the port of Komiža and then a hike to the church of Saint Bjaž with a 10 km walk and 570 m ascent.

Dinner will be served in a nearby restaurant in Komiža.

Overnight in the port of Komiža.

DAY 3

Komiža – Vis

  • After breakfast in the port of Komiža, you will have the option of visiting the Falkuša gajeta museum – a traditional fishing boat with which fishermen transported fish, salt, wine and lamb.

  • The inspiring story of old folk fishing customs will leave you breathless. After visiting the Falkuša museum, we will continue our sailing along the southern side of the island of Vis to the 2,500-year-old town of the same name. Of all the inhabited Croatian islands, Vis is the furthest from the mainland. It was an important Greek colony in the 4th century BC. Until 1991, it was difficult for foreign tourists to access it because it served as a military base for the Yugoslav People’s Army. This is why the architecture, lifestyle and landscape on the island are particularly authentic and well-preserved.

  • On the way to Vis, we will stop at one of the most famous beaches in Croatia and the world – Stiniva, and if the weather permits, you will have the opportunity to dive in a nearby bay and see the propeller and wing of a German plane from World War II. Lunch will be served on board during the cruise.

  • After docking in the port of Vis where we will spend the night, we will have dinner in a restaurant in Vis.

DAY 4

Vis – Pakleni Islands

  • Today, after breakfast, we start with a military tour by off-road vehicles on the island of Vis.

  • During and after World War II, the former army built atomic shelters, numerous military facilities with over 60 km of underground tunnels across the entire island of Vis. You will truly enjoy this unforgettable experience of visiting bunkers, tunnels and shelters with local guides.

  • After the military tour, we continue sailing towards Pakleni Islands – a picturesque archipelago of 21 islands and rocks known for their crystal clear sea, rich vegetation, hidden coves and superb gastronomy.

  • On Pakleni Islands, we will anchor and swim while enjoying delicious snacks with a magical sunset.

  • Tonight we will spend the night at anchor and cook on the boat.

  • As part of the cooking course, participate in the preparation of one of the most famous Dalmatian dishes – gregada or buzara.

DAY 5

Pakleni Islands – Hvar – Stari Grad

  • We start the morning on the Pakleni Islands with breakfast and a refreshing swim from the catamaran. Then follows a sail towards the town of Hvar located on the southern side of the island of the same name.

  • The island of Hvar is adorned with centuries-old olive groves and lavender fields, so we will use today to explore the well-trodden donkey paths along which old dry stone walls have been built.

  • If you do not want to hike, you can sail with a catamaran from Hvar to Stari Grad. The hiking tour starts from the south side from Hvar to nearby viewpoints through lavender fields on the way to Velo Grablje all the way to Stari Grad on the northern side of the island of Hvar. The hiking tour is 11.5 km long with 450 m of ascent.

  • Stari Grad is considered the oldest town in the Republic of Croatia. Its stone, paved streets hide a real treasure trove of sights, full of history and charm on the enchanting island of Hvar.

  • The city was a cultural center of the Renaissance nobility, and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008.

  • In the afternoon, a visit to the historic Tvrdalj Fortress (Petar Hektorović Fortress) and exploring the charm of the city is planned.

Overnight stay at the mooring in Stari Grad. Dinner at a nearby restaurant in Stari Grad.

DAY 6

Stari Grad – Bol (Stari Grad – Vrboska)

  • If weather conditions permit, we would head from Stari Grad to the town of Bol on the island of Brač, famous for the Zlatni rat beach, where we would spend the day hiking to the Dragon’s Cave monastery. The Dragon’s Cave is climbed from the small town of Murvica near Bol. The Dragon’s Cave is a fascinating monument to cave monastic life. It is hundreds of years old and represents a mystical place where Slavic mythology, Christianity and Mediterranean legends intertwine.

  • The hiking tour to the Dragon’s Cave, accompanied by a local guide, lasts 45 minutes with a climb of 200 m. After the hiking tour, lunch / dinner follows in a tavern in Bol, and then a wine tasting in a nearby winery over 100 years old.

 

  • If weather conditions are unfavorable, we will use the day for a bicycle ride through the Starigrad field to the small towns of Jelsa and Vrboska. In that case, the catamaran will be waiting for you at the mooring in the fairy-tale town of Vrboska.

  • Due to its picturesque appearance and small stone bridges connecting the two shores of the bay, visitors also call Vrboska by the nickname Little Venice.

  • Along with an afternoon exploration of Vrboska and a visit to a local winery with a tasting of Hvar wines, dinner would be organized in a restaurant in Vrboska.

DAY 7

Bol (Vrboska) – Šolta – Marina

  • On the seventh day, after breakfast and morning coffee, we begin our return journey to Marina, where we began our sailing.

  • On the way to Marina, we will anchor on the island of Šolta where we will use the day for swimming and preparing lunch.

  • Arrival in Marina is scheduled for the afternoon.

  • After check-out, a farewell dinner follows.

  • Overnight stay on the catamaran.

DAY 8

Goodbye Dalmatia

Departure from the catamaran is on Saturday by 8 A.M. If your return home is not scheduled for Saturday (the day after our return), we will be happy to organize rafting for you on the Cetina River, which is located near the town of Omiš, and if you want to continue exploring Croatia, we will be happy to recommend a visit to the national parks and other tourist attractions nearby.

Please note: in the event of unexpected or severe weather, the Salterra 26 team reserves the right to adjust the itinerary. While we hope no changes will be necessary, you may work with the skipper to finetune or modify your trip to suit your preferences. The skipper monitors the weather and their guidance should be followed.

  • Throughout the entire voyage, unlimited food and drinks will be available on board, depending on your wishes, including fruit snacks.

  • In addition to fishing equipment, you will have two SUP boards and some diving equipment (diving masks and snorkels) at your disposal.

  • All additional activities; wine tasting, bicycle rental, cultural sightseeing, hiking tours, museum tickets and a military tour are included in the price of the excursion.

  • We create tailor-made private excursions for groups, friends, families, companies, team buildings.

  • Based on your preferences, we adapt this excursion to your needs. In accordance with your wishes, we create a daily schedule and the areas you want to visit.
